Born
in 1948, in Kafalpani, Tehri Garhwal, Uttraranchal, Manglesh Dabral studied upto
Graduation level Then he took up journalism as a profession. He is the Editor,
Magazine Section, Jansatta. Has several books to his credit including,
Pahar Par Lalten, Ghar Ka Rasta, Hum Jo Dekhte Hain, Awaz Bhi Ek Jagah Hain (all
poetry); Ek Baar Iowa (travelogue); Retghari and Kavita Uttarshati (poems,
edited), Lekhak ki Roti (a collection of prose writings), Yah
Mrityupatyaka Nahin Mera Desh Hai (translation of Navarun
Bhattacharya's Bengali work), and Siddharth (translation of Herman
Hesse's work). Participated in the International Writing Programme of
Iowa University, USA, in
1991. He has also visited Eastern Europe and many other parts of the world. He
is the winner of Srikant Verma Puraskar in 1989 and Shamsher Smriti Samman in
1995.
The
award-winning poetry collection, Hum Jo Dekhte Hain, contains poems that
speak to us intimately and bring about an exhilaration in us. In revelling in
one's own survival, one is also celebrating others'. This work is certainly an
important contribution to Indian poetry in Hindi.
